Our Strong Legacy
Air Canada Compressors was founded in 1950 by Gilmer Gilbertson, initially operating under the name Modern Equipment Company. Originating from Rushford, Minnesota, Gilmer was the descendant of Norwegian immigrants.
-
1950 - The Beginning in Minneapolis
Gilmer (our founder) focused on selling gasoline pumps to small, family-owned gas stations and represented LeRoi compressors. He later expanded the business by adding the Louisville Ladder line, which he sold to major clients such as Target Corporation
-
1960 - Expansion and Diversification
Gilmer expanded the business by adding Louisville Ladders, selling them to large clients like Target Corporation. His entrepreneurial vision laid the foundation for future growth
-
1970 – A New Era
After Gilmer’s passing, his son Glen Gilbertson, a Navy pilot, took over the business. He rebranded the company as Air Canada Compressor and steered it into manufacturing its own line of piston compressors
